125 Years in the Making: The MICHELIN Guide Introduces the MICHELIN Key – A New Global Standard for Hotel Excellence

The MICHELIN Guide Unveils First-Ever Global MICHELIN Keys Selection

The MICHELIN Guide has officially launched its inaugural Global MICHELIN Keys Selection, recognizing the world’s most exceptional hotels. Following the introduction of MICHELIN Key distinctions in 15 major travel destinations last year, MICHELIN Guide Inspectors have evaluated over 7,000 properties worldwide to identify those that deliver truly outstanding hospitality experiences.

A total of 2,457 hotels have been awarded MICHELIN Keys: 1,742 received One Key, 572 earned Two Keys, and 143 achieved the prestigious Three Keys. These hotels represent the highest standards of service, design, and guest experience globally.

The full list of MICHELIN Key hotels was revealed online and at an exclusive ceremony at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. All recognized properties are available for booking through The MICHELIN Guide’s website and mobile apps, which also offer concierge services and VIP benefits for travelers.

“125 years after its inception, The MICHELIN Guide is once again redefining excellence—this time in hospitality,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guide. “Just as MICHELIN Stars celebrate the finest restaurants, MICHELIN Keys now honor hotels that offer unforgettable stays through exceptional design, service, and location.”

About the MICHELIN Keys

Building on its legacy in fine dining, The MICHELIN Guide has expanded its reach to hotels, creating a global selection of over 7,000 properties. The MICHELIN Keys serve as a new, independent benchmark for excellence in lodging, evaluated based on five universal criteria by anonymous MICHELIN Inspectors.

Key distinctions are defined as follows:

– One MICHELIN Key: A very special stay — a hotel with unique character, outstanding service, and exceptional value.
– Two MICHELIN Keys: An exceptional stay — a property that stands out for its charm, design, and immersive experience.
– Three MICHELIN Keys: An extraordinary stay — one of the world’s most remarkable hotels, offering luxury, elegance, and unforgettable hospitality.
