New England, known for its beautiful beaches, stunning fall foliage and small-town charm, is one of the world’s best travel destinations. To support this claim, four New England hotels have been named among the top 100 in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine.
The list, which included only 16 U.S. locations, was based on a 2024 survey taken by over 186,000 Travel + Leisure readers. More than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties, including resort hotels, city hotels, inns and safari lodges.
Winnetu Oceanside Resort on Martha’s Vineyard was ranked 16th on the list with a reader score of 99.0. The family-owned property was praised for its great location, outstanding family programming and menu options at The Dunes restaurant. It also topped the list of New England resorts.
Candleberry Inn in Brewster, a cozy inn on Cape Cod, was ranked 30th with a reader score of 98.67. The inn prides itself on “simple elegance” and offers a comfortable stay in a historic home in the heart of Cape Cod.
The Norumbega in Camden, Maine ranked 52nd with a reader score of 98.32. The 11-room inn was restored in May 2023 and is housed within a fairytale chateau built in 1887. Readers appreciated the perfectly-executed cocktails, luxe rooms, and attentive staff.
Finally, Quisisana Resort in Lovell, Maine was ranked 85th with a score of 97.77. The all-inclusive resort offers activities such as live performances by the talented staff and stand-up paddleboarding.
