Bill Cobbs, a veteran actor known for his roles in popular films such as “Night at the Museum” and “The Bodyguard,” has passed away at the age of 90.
According to a Facebook post by a family member, Cobbs died “peacefully at his home in California” on Tuesday, June 25. TMZ was the first to report on his passing.
His family described him as “a beloved partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather, and friend,” who had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with loved ones.
The family expressed comfort in knowing that Cobbs is now at peace and resting with his Heavenly Father. They requested prayers and encouragement during this difficult time.
A publicist for Cobbs has not yet confirmed his death to PEOPLE.
Cobbs, who served as an Air Force radar technician for eight years before pursuing acting, was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He moved to New York City in 1970 at the age of 36 to chase his acting dreams. His film debut came in 1974 with “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.”
