In September, Corinthia Hotels is set to reopen The Surrey, a historic hotel located in New York City’s Upper East Side. This marks the first New York City hotel for the company. The Surrey, originally built in 1926 as a residential hotel, has been a host to many historical figures including celebrities and politicians.
The hotel, now known as The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel, is situated at the intersection of East 76th Street and Madison Avenue. It aims to re-establish itself as one of the city’s most prestigious addresses. The hotel’s 70 guest rooms and 30 suites are designed by the renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, which has also worked on projects such as London’s Broadwick Soho, Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York, and Nubeluz bar at The Ritz Carlton NoMad New York.
While specific details regarding the interior design are still limited, computer-generated images reveal light-filled guest rooms with neutral gold-accented color palettes. Four ‘theme suites’ will also be designed to celebrate the bridges of Central Park.
The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel, has announced its partnership with Casa Tua, a popular Italian restaurant with locations in Miami, Paris, and Aspen. Casa Tua will operate a signature restaurant, a lounge-style bar, and an exclusive members-only club within the hotel. Other facilities at the hotel will include The Surrey Spa, which will feature two treatment rooms, a steam room and sauna, a salt relaxation room, and a gym.
The hotel will also offer 14 private residences located on its top floors. Owners will have private access to The Surrey’s rooftop space.
Corinthia Hotels CEO Simon Casson expressed his excitement about the addition of this property to their portfolio and their partnership with the Reuben Brothers. He stated that this opening allows them to bring their commitment to luxury, elegance, and exceptional service to New York with the brand’s first property in North America.
