Life House, a hotel startup founded by Rami Zeidan in 2017, is reportedly dealing with a series of complaints from hotel owners who use its software and services. The company could benefit from a fresh start under new leadership, according to reports.
Rami Zeidan has stepped down as CEO of Life House, as revealed in a shareholder letter sent on Monday and viewed by Skift. The Information first reported Zeidan’s departure, following an article published on February 14 detailing customer dissatisfaction with Life House.
The article alleged that at least a third of the approximately 50 hotels using Life House to manage their operations have tried to terminate their contracts with the startup in recent months. However, Life House countered that it has another 70 clients who use a software product to manage their revenues and that customer satisfaction for this product is high.
Employee reviews on Glassdoor over the past year have also indicated internal unrest and complaints from hotel owners.
Zeidan established Life House in 2017. The company, which has raised more than $100 million according to Crunchbase, operates two main facets of business. One is running branded hotels for owners, while the other provides B2B software for hotel owners to enhance profitability by streamlining operations and tasks such as revenue management.
At one point, Booking Holdings’ Kayak partnered with Life House to create Kayak-branded hotels and even participated in a funding round. However, by the end of 2022, Kayak decided to withdraw from the business and plans to remove its branding from its three hotels later this year.
Christopher Cave will serve as interim CEO, the company announced on Monday. Cave was previously the CEO of online travel agency FlightHub until December. Marc Ghobriel has been appointed as the new interim chief financial officer.
The company expressed confidence in its new leadership and anticipates a bright, customer-focused future for Life House. A revised strategic plan is expected to be released soon.
