Newsweek’s network of contributors brings you the latest entertainment gossip and news, including the heartwarming story of Michael J. Fox and his wife Tracy Pollan’s enduring love.
The couple, who have been married for 30 years, recently celebrated their anniversary with a touching tribute from Fox on Instagram. “Here’s to a lifetime of love with the love of a lifetime. Happy anniversary, T. Forever ♥️,” he wrote.
Fans were quick to comment on the post, with one user writing, “Just watched the episode of Family Ties at the train station. So beautiful that your love for each other remains unshakeable, and eternal. Happy Anniversary!!! 🙏❤️”
Fox and Pollan first met on the set of Family Ties in 1985, where they played onscreen lovers. However, their real-life romance didn’t begin until they were cast in Bright Lights, Big City together. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 39th Annual Emmy Awards in 1987 and got engaged just three months later.
Fox shared with PEOPLE magazine that he wasn’t worried about Pollan saying no to his proposal. “The toughest part was trying to figure out when to get married, and then to figure out how nobody else could know about it,” he said.
The couple tied the knot on July 16, 1988, in Woodstock, Vermont, amidst paparazzi and heavy security. They have since welcomed four children: son Sam Michael and daughters Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esme.
Throughout their marriage, Fox and Pollan have frequently praised each other, especially as Fox has battled Parkinson’s disease. “She had indicated to me by saying in for better or for worse, in sickness and in health,” Fox told CBS Mornings. “She was able to get me through it, and go through it with me. And she has for 35 years.”
