Hotels and motels in Ocean City, Maryland, have launched a new initiative to assist families with young children. The program provides guests with wristbands that contain information about the hotel or motel they are staying at. This way, if a child gets lost, authorities can use the information on the wristband to help reunite them with their family.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the hotels and motels, Ocean City police, and the Ocean City Beach Patrol. According to police spokesperson Ashley Miller, lost children are a frequent issue, often getting separated from their families on the beach or the bustling Boardwalk.
Miller explained that many young children do not yet know their parents’ names or phone numbers, making these wristbands particularly useful. The idea for this program was proposed by the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association, inspired by a similar initiative in Virginia Beach.
