**Rapper Travis Scott Arrested After Altercation at Paris Luxury Hotel**
**PARIS** — Rapper Travis Scott was arrested following an alleged altercation involving a security guard and his own bodyguard at a luxury hotel in central Paris, French authorities announced on Friday.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that on August 9, 2024, police were called to the George V hotel, where Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a security guard. The guard had reportedly intervened to separate Scott from his bodyguard. The case has been referred to the 1st district of the judicial police for further investigation.
A representative for Scott stated that the rapper had been “chased and harassed” by paparazzi for several days without any assistance. The representative added that Scott was arrested after an altercation with his own security detail and that they are working with local authorities to resolve the matter swiftly.
As of Friday afternoon, Scott, 33, remained in custody. Police are expected to interview him and will decide whether to release him or pursue charges.
Scott was seen in the crowd at the men’s Olympic basketball semifinal on Thursday, where the U.S. team secured a narrow 4-point victory to advance to the final.
The George V hotel, located near Paris’s famous Champs-Élysées and offering views of the Eiffel Tower, is renowned for its multiple Michelin-starred restaurants.
This incident follows Scott’s arrest in June on a disorderly intoxication charge after he allegedly yelled at people on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. His attorney described that incident as a “misunderstanding.”
Scott has not publicly commented on the recent arrest. The Associated Press reached out to his representative but has not yet received a response.
