A California woman’s son has filed a lawsuit against Trump International Hotels, accusing the company of negligence after an incident at Trump Hotel Las Vegas allegedly led to her death.
The wrongful death lawsuit states that Diana Truschke, a San Francisco Bay Area resident in her 70s, was injured when a revolving door at the hotel unexpectedly accelerated as she exited. The force of the door allegedly “violently” ejected her, causing her to fall and hit her face.
According to the lawsuit, the fall resulted in severe and permanent injuries that required extensive medical treatment. Truschke passed away on October 14, 2024, due to complications from those injuries, the suit claims. She was 78 years old at the time of her death.
The *Las Vegas Review-Journal* first reported the case.
The Trump Organization, the parent company of Trump Hotels, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Filed on March 18 in Clark County, Nevada, the lawsuit was brought on behalf of Truschke’s estate by her son and sole heir, John Truschke. It alleges that the hotel’s revolving door was not in compliance with safety regulations and was in a hazardous condition. The suit further claims that the hotel should have been aware that the door was malfunctioning.
Diana Truschke was a real estate agent in San Mateo County, just south of San Francisco. At the time of the incident, she was a guest at Trump Hotel Las Vegas, a 64-story high-rise that opened in 2008 and features both hotel accommodations and condominiums.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical and funeral expenses, as well as damages for pain and suffering.
