Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has appointed Amit Sripathi as its new Chief Development Officer. Sripathi, who will report to the company’s President and CEO Geoff Ballotti, is set to lead Wyndham’s North American franchise sales team. His role will be to assist hotel owners in leveraging the benefits of the world’s largest hotel franchise company and its renowned brands.
Sripathi brings with him extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions and capital markets, specifically within the real estate and hospitality sectors. His previous roles at Deutsche Bank and RLJ Lodging have equipped him with the skills necessary to drive Wyndham’s growth strategy. Since joining Wyndham, Sripathi has shown a strategic approach to growth, helping to divest owned and managed segments and leading to a pure-play U.S. franchise business. He has also worked with sales teams across the country and globally, deploying over $250 million in development support for owners.
Sripathi’s appointment comes at a time of significant growth for Wyndham, with 15 consecutive quarters of organic net room growth and the largest development pipeline in the company’s history. Sripathi is confident that with the best franchise sales team Wyndham has ever assembled, they will be able to help more owners experience the benefits of partnering with Wyndham.
The outgoing Chief Development Officer, Chip Ohlsson, will leave the company in June after a successful tenure during which he helped expand the Wyndham portfolio from 14 to 25 brands. Ohlsson was also instrumental in creating groundbreaking programs like Women Own the Room and BOLD by Wyndham, aimed at increasing diversity within the industry.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is the world’s largest hotel franchising company by the number of properties, with approximately 9,200 hotels across over 95 countries on six continents. The company operates a portfolio of 25 hotel brands, including Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Microtel, La Quinta, Baymont, Wingate, AmericInn, Hawthorn Suites, Trademark Collection and Wyndham.
